2Rios Lingerie, a lingerie brand and member of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – a partnership between Abit and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) – will be at the 2018 edition of South by Southwest (SXSW), one of the largest creative economy festivals in the world. The event will take place in Austin, Texas, in the USA, from March 9 to 18.

This is the brand’s second time at the event and, according to Matheus Diogo Fagundes, President, the company is going to Austin with bolder goals for this edition: “we have high expectations for the festival, since we will be bringing a product we believe has great potential.”

The launch he is referring to is innovative lingerie, capable of protecting women from 98% of the bacteria that grow involuntarily in intimate wear. “Through a series of studies, we found that women are exposed to over 10,000 bacteria, even after washing the item. That is why we partnered with the Golden chemical company and developed a product that is applied to the fabric, providing this protection,” he says.

The company is looking to grow its network at the event, prospecting new partners and enhancing research in innovation and health.

Brazilian participation

2Rios is one of 77 companies that make up the Brazilian delegation from Apex-Brasil. The agency is supporting a group of companies from various sectors that will take part in platforms to promote business and image, meetings, technical visits and networking activities. In addition, 15 of these companies will also show their products at the festival’s Trade Show.

SXSW is hugely relevant and has an international impact, in terms of business and launching trends in the interactive, film, music, education and various other sectors. Attendees at the show mostly include entrepreneurs, foreign investors and leaders from major companies.

At the last edition, around 2,200 presentations were made, including talks and panels. According to the event’s organizers, last year 1,153 Brazilians were in Austin, representing the event’s second largest foreign delegation. The delegation organized by Apex-Brasil included 68 Brazilian companies, who left the event with USD 37 million in business forecast over the twelve months following the event.

Brazil continues to hold the second most registered attendees for the 2018 edition.
