Abit hosts matchmaking between fashion companies and export trade companies

03/23/2017

Yesterday (March 22), Abit hosted business talks in Sao Paulo between fashion industry companies and export trade companies, with the aim of creating new opportunities for companies in the apparel, textile and accessories segment that want to increase their exports and gain new international markets. Among the brands in attendance were: Acquaclub, Alto Tricô, Biquini Brasil, Confecções Elite, Digitale Têxtil, Innovativ, Lola Body, Maria Pavan, Pelican Têxtil, Planeta Sweetie, Puket, Recco and Via Tolentino, all members of Texbrasil – Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, the result of a partnership between Abit and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).

For executive Mario Schick, of Digitale Textil, the talks were a very interesting new initiative to establish new channels for sales and exports. “We made one particular contact that works with fabrics and liked our products a lot. I think that we can really explore the markets where we work with this contact,” he says. While Puket, a brand known for its colorful socks, pajamas, accessories and lingerie, caught the attention of new customers, especially from African countries, where it does not yet export. “One point that caught our attention is that in Angola people are very fond of colorful products, and Puket has this characteristic,” says Joana Wichmann, foreign market manager. “This is the time when you bring together those that want a product and those that have the product, so it’s very productive,” she added.

Cláudio Zanetti, managing partner of Acquaclub beachwear, was also happy with the results of the initiative: “We made very worthwhile contacts, to countries where we don’t yet export. The customers that saw our products here had nothing but nice things to say,” he said. The business talks were done in partnership with Apex-Brasil and the CECIEx (Brazilian Council for Import and Export Houses) and also included participation from companies in the gemstones, costume jewelry and jewelry segment of the Industry Project developed by the Agency in partnership with the IBGM (Brazilian Institute of Gems and Precious Metals).
