From June 20 to 26, a group of nearly 30 textile industry executives is taking part in a mission to the ITMA 2019 event, being held of the second time in the city of Barcelona, Spain. The trip is being organized by the team and by Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association), with the aim of showing Brazilian representatives organizations geared toward the industry and incubators, in addition to innovations at the show and visits to materials technology centers.

The group includes executives that are members of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – held through a partnership between Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) – including Cedro, Coteminas, Marie Mercie and UNIFI.

Participants also have an agenda outside of the ITMA exhibit that includes a study tour in Barcelona where mission members will visit the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED), Materfad (Barcelona’s Materials Center), Barcelona Tech City and the Factory Incubator, as well as meetings with industry executives and technicians.

According to Fernando Pimentel, Abit’s President, the mission is an immersion opportunity for participating executives to learn about new technologies. “ITMA is a very important show for the industry and an international showcase, where top companies take the chance to introduce their launches,” he says. And he also spoke about the importance of actions like this for the growth of industry in Brazil. “It’s through missions like this that our executives gain continuing knowledge and gather inputs to continue innovating.”

One of the most traditional events in the textile and apparel industry, ITMA is recognized for the launch of products and technological trends by major companies from around the world. There will be over 1,700 exhibitors from 45 countries, allocated to 19 sectors.

Over 120,000 people from 147 countries are expected to attend this edition of the event. The exhibition, which began in 1951, is still a great opportunity to network, since the best professionals attend the event, which is held every four years.
