Between January 18 and February 5, the first 100% digital edition of the most important event for the textile industry in Latin America, Colombiatex de Las Américas, took place. The Brazilian delegation present at the tradeshow expects sales of USD 11 million over the next 12 months.

The 21 brands of the Brazilian group participated in the event with the support of Texbrasil (Program for the Internationalization of the Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry) – the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Association of the Textile and Apparel Industry) and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency) – and closed USD 800,000 during the three weeks of online negotiation.

The following companies took part in the delegation: Canatiba, Cataguases, Cedro, Coltex, Covolan, Dalila Têxtil, Ecotag, Hyosung, La Estampa, Latina Têxtil (Diklatex), Linhas Triche, Lunelli, Paramount, Rosset, Santaconstância, Santanense, Santista, Spa Têxtil, Tecelagem Macias, Textil J. Serrano and Vicunha.

According to the Colombiatex organization, the digital edition received 69,000 visitors from countries such as Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, and the United States. In addition, the fair had 3,300 buyers from 28 countries.

New format

The first digital edition of Colombiatex took place through a platform developed by Inexmoda, the organizer of the event. For the marketing manager of Diklatex, Carla Mager, the digital platform enables a natural expansion of the company in the active search for customers despite the setbacks. Among the countries that generated business for the brand include Chile, Guatemala, El Salvador, United States, and Colombia.

According to Diklatex, attending the trade is essential, despite the uncertainties of the current moment. “Colombiatex stands for market expansion, visibility, and branding. The event allows us to attract potential customers to generate future business and to present our products with the perceived value that our brand offers”, explains Carla.

Lilian Kaddissi, Executive Director of Texbrasil, also underlines the importance of Colombiatex for the industry: “As one of the leading tradeshows in the segment, Colombiatex attracts top-class buyers from Latin America. This contact is essential for Brazilian brands to expand the market to the entire region.”

The physical version of the event, which is scheduled to take place in January, is expected to take place in July.
