From January 7 to 10, the city of Frankfurt, Germany, hosted the 50th edition of the most important world fair for household linen, Heimtextil. Brazil attended the event with a delegation composed of three companies: Belchior, Dohler, and Têxtil J. Serrano. With the support of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Association of the Textile and Clothing Industry) and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency) – they closed more than USD 356 thousand in business.

The participation in the event also allowed entrepreneurs to establish almost 70 contacts, which are expected to yield USD 1.62 million in sales over the next 12 months. Texbrasil’s executive manager, Lilian Kaddissi, explains that the numbers are the result of long-term work. “Our country has an extremely innovative and active industry in this segment, which attends at international events. The constant relationship with buyers is a great differential to consolidate sales,” she details.

According to Francisco Batista, responsible for Têxtil J. Serrano’s exports, the fair received highly qualified visitors this year. “It was very good, we made excellent contacts with buyers from countries like Russia, Lithuania, and Poland, and we opened new customers,” he comments. The company already exports to approximately 20 countries, with South America, the United States, Mexico, and Eastern Europe among its main destinations. In addition to closing deals, the professional believes that the fair guarantees contact with the main global trends: “You are updated all the time.”

The next edition of Heimtextil Germany takes place from January 12 to 15, 2021. Annually, the event gathers more than 3 thousand exhibitors from around 60 countries and receives approximately 70 thousand visitors.
