From November 5 to 9, seven member brands of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – held through a partnership between Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) – took part in the Chile Roadshow, a trade mission to the Latin American country organized by the Texbrasil team. The participating companies said they did USD 30,000 in sales, with an additional USD 270,000 expected over the next 12 months

Over the four days of the trip, Art Stilo, Daniela Tombini, DK, Kyly, Lunelli, Mash and Malharia Cristina took part in 79 individual meetings with Chilean buyers specializing in the underwear and kidswear segments. The meetings were held in the city of Santiago.

Andre Luiz Tombini, the Commercial Director for the Daniela Tombini brand, really liked the country. He said that its proximity and similar climate to Brazil’s are factors that make exporting easier.

“Chile is a strong target market for Tombini. We had one customer in Santiago and the Roadshow made it possible for us to build stronger ties, not to mention the number of new contacts we made with boutiques,” he points out.

Lilian Kaddissi, Executive Manager at Texbrasil, says that this destination was chosen based on an increase in Brazilian exports to Chile. “One highlight was the underwear segment, with growth in sales to the country of 50% from 2017 to 2018. We took advantage of the fact that this market’s economy is strong and put together this mission, which was completely tailored to our companies,” she explains.

She also adds that “we are very happy with the results. Chile is an important Latin American market and the companies enjoyed the mission’s model and the contacts made.”
