The second edition of Veste Rio, an initiative from Vogue magazine and the Ela section of O Globo newspaper aimed at drawing major names in Brazilian fashion, is being held October 19 to 22, at the new Marina da Gloria in Rio de Janeiro. With a trade show, outlet shop, talks and shows, the event is welcoming international buyers at the invitation of Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).

Ana Teresa Brito and Gloria Brito, of the Fio d’Agua store, in Portugal; Ilias Kavvagias and Joseph Manthous, of the Rusty store, in Greece; and Satoh Yoshiharu and Akemi Oyanagi, of Fruits de Mer, in Japan are the buyers who will take a first-hand look at collections from Texbrasil member brands Andrea Marques, Apartamento 03, CCM, Cholet, Fabula, FARM, Liziane Richter, Lucas Magalhaes, Lucidez, Maria Filo, Maria Pavan, PatBo, Patricia Bonaldi, Tigresse, Totem and Victor Dzenk.

Lucidez is known for the elegance and femininity of its pieces and is bringing its Savana Beauty F/W 17 collection to the show, featuring tribal and animal prints, velvet, sparkle, pleats, bare shoulders and midi lengths. “We expect to find new customers, build loyalty with established customers and grow the brand’s publicity,” says Elisa Tonietto, who is in charge of marketing.

Liziane Richter, a brand specialized in leather, is also bringing its F/W 17 collection to the show, which is inspired by the work of artist Geta Bratescu, one of the most influential figures in Romanian art. “Veste Rio is very important to publicize the brand and strengthen sales throughout Brazil, since it is an event with great repercussion,” says Sandra Boschetti, the head of the company’s marketing.

The event, which includes 73 brands at the trade show, 41 at the outlet and 15 speakers, had total attendance of 30,000 at the last show, with 1,400 buyers from Brazilian and international multi-brand stores.
