Seven companies were in the city of Anaheim, in Orange County, USA, from July 31 to August 1 for the Swim & Active Collective. Brazilian companies Charmosa, Rosset, Despi, Bia Brazil, Rio de Sol, Líquido and Sporting Way did USD 400,000 in business over the 3 days of the beachwear, resortwear and fitnesswear event, with expectations for the next 12 months of closing an additional USD 470,00 in deals.

The brands took part in the North American show with the support of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency). In addition to business, the Program companies also managed to prospect 110 new buyers.

According to Renata Facchini, a Manager at Líquido, which is taking part in the event for the 5th year running, the company works in the foreign market with its fitnesswear line, developed especially for yoga, and this strategy has borne fruit.

“Our product is specialized, manufactured using a light material and it has lots of prints. We know who our buyer is and we work hard before the show, whether it’s scheduling meetings or building relations,” she says.

And she adds that “in recent years the market has changed. There has been a growth in digital and some companies feel that shows are no longer as valuable. This is contrary to my belief: events like Swim & Active Collective are very important, since they are a chance to develop relations with buyers in person. That is where they can see products with their own eyes and feel the fabric.”

According to Lilian Kaddissi, the American west coast, where Swim & Active Collective takes place, gathers a good selection of buyers specializing n activewear. “The California lifestyle ends up moving the local market in favor of this segment. That is why this event is a very good opportunity for our companies,” she says in closing.
