Brazilian delegation at Colombiatex has the best performance of the last five years

The Brazilian textile and apparel sector delegation, represented by 29 companies that actively participated in Colombiatex 2023 with the support of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program), the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and ApexBrasil (Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency), achieved the best business performance since 2018.

During the fair the companies closed USD 10,066,000, up from their estimate of USD 8,000,000 before the event. The amount did not exceed the amount reached 5 years ago, of USD 12,767,000, which is still an all-time record.

“We are very happy to announce that the companies that participated in the fair closed deals for a value much higher than initially estimated. This way, we continue consolidating a strong business relationship with Colombia, one of our country’s main textile partners and a very important market in the region,” said Rafael Cervone, general director of Texbrasil and president emeritus of Abit.

The business projections that should be completed during the year amount to USD 72,350,000.00, which, added to the business done during the fair, constitutes the second highest turnover achieved by a Brazilian delegation at Colombiatex.

During the fair, Brazilian companies made 5,893 business contacts, many of which resulted in current business deals and are part of the sector’s future prospects.

Estimative for the machinery export sector
Represented by the manufacturers Albrecht, Audaces, Castilho, Comelato, Delta, Inarmeg, Laudatec, Porta Cabos and Socio Tec, the Brazilian textile industry was at Colombiatex of the Americas. The presence of the nine national companies was promoted by the Brazil Machinery Solutions (BMS) Program, an alliance between ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and ABIMAQ (Brazilian Association of the Machinery and Equipment Industry).

These companies moved USD 5.6 million in international business during Colombiatex de las Américas 2023 – a volume of 48.5% higher than in 2022. Of the announced value, USD 778.4 thousand, are from negotiations carried out during the show and USD 4.9 million, are estimated future business with countries such as Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Mexico, as well as Colombia, venue of the event.
