Event debates sustainability in the fashion business during SPFW
What are the social and environmental aspects that impact the fashion chain? What is the panorama of sustainability like at Brazilian companies? These and other questions will be debated today (April 28), at an event on sustainability in fashion business, being held by Texbrasil – the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) – which will take place at the Abit lounge at Sao Paulo Fashion Week.
The chat will be led by Regi Magalhaes, who holds a PhD and a Master’s in Environmental Science from the University of Sao Paulo and is the director of Uniethos. Magalhaes will discuss aspects related to sustainability as an edge in the global market, based on a study done by the Program in partnership with the consulting firm. This study was aimed at identifying the standards of sustainability required by the textile and apparel industry in markets in the U.S.A., Europe and Japan, and the extent to which Brazilian companies are compliant with these standards.
Continuing this first event, workshops will be held in the cities of Belo Horizonte, Santa Catarina and Rio de Janeiro aimed at training textile and apparel companies on increasing their compliance and alignment with international sustainability requirements.
