Andrea Marques designs uniforms for medal ceremonies at Rio 2016 Olympic Games
The presentation of the Awards Ceremonies and the medals for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games was held this Tuesday afternoon (June 14), in Rio de Janeiro. At the event, it was announced that designer Andrea Marques was chosen to design the uniforms for the medal ceremonies to be held during the Games. The designer’s label was founded in 2007, based on a desire to create clothing that translates her passion for prints, colors and delicate finishes in contemporary and feminine forms. For three years the brand has been a member of Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).
Andrea was part of the selection process coordinated by Paulo Borges, President of Luminosidade, the company responsible for Sao Paulo Fashion Week. Paulo was invited to conduct the process of choosing the brand that would design the uniforms for the medal ceremonies as well as for coordinating the dynamic.
“I’m very happy to be part of such an important moment as this, and this time happening on our own soil. I’m very intensely involved with the process of selecting designers, whether for the uniforms for the Brazilian Olympic Committee or the Brazilian Paralympic Committee, and now with the selection of the uniform for the medal ceremonies at the Rio 2016 Games,” says the executive.
