From February 13 to 15, the city of Paris, France hosted one of the most traditional fabric and supplies shows in Europe, Premiere Vision Paris.

Eight member brands of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) — a partnership between  Abit and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) had the chance to show their launches at this year’s event.  BerlanColetivo Estampa Dash StudioSavyonMoltec BrasilVicunha, Britânnia TêxtilOficina Lamparina and Natural Cotton  arrived the middle of the Paris winter of 2018, together doing sales in excess of USD 241,000.

Business expected over the next 12 months, as the result of nearly 500 contacts made by the company at the show, is also impressive: USD 2.5 million.

One of the companies that had a great show was Paraiba-based textile manufacturer Natural Cotton Color, which launched its collection of over six types of jerseys at the show – including carded and felted fabrics – and also introduced over 60 new prints. According to Francisca Vieira, an executive with the brand, which works exclusively with products made using naturally colored cotton, the show was very positive and essential for consolidating Cotton’s presence in Europe.

“We noticed that attendance is very exclusive, which gave us solid contacts and outlooks for good business for this year,” she explains. She also adds that “now we just hope to reap the fruits of our labor during these days at PV Paris.”

Fabio Rodrigo, the Creative Director for New Business at Coletivo Estampa Dash Studio, say that one strategy used by the studio that had good results and drew more and more international buyers was to always use prints with regional references.

“At this S/S 2019 edition of Premiere Vision Paris, the third we’ve attended, we were visited by customers who bought from us in years past; one good example is Inditex, one of the world’s largest fashion groups, with the Stradivarius, Oysho and Zara labels. We are very happy with the results, especially since new brands came to us, such as Tom Tailor and Next London,” he says.

PV Paris belongs to the Premiere Vision group. The show is subdivided into six segments: fabrics, designs (prints), leathers, yarns, accessories and private label. Each area of the show has a trends and products forum, which visitors consider to be one of the most important facets of the show. This year’s show had around 19,000 exhibitors, from 125 different countries, and welcomed 60,000 visitors.
