Panoh bets on sustainable fashion and reuses textile waste

Panoh, a sustainable fashion brand, bet on a creative solution to avoid the disposal of textile waste. The company, which is part of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Association of the Textile and Apparel Industry) and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency) – uses the scraps to create different pieces of apparel and decoration.

According to the brand founder, Dani Cataneo, this work began about three years ago, when Panoh started using organic fabrics. “The scraps or residues of our sustainable apparel are sent to some of our artisans and seamstresses, who make rugs, underpants, pillowcases, and dolls,” she explains.

In addition, the brand donates waste to the “Boneca Esperança” project, donating waste for the creation of cloth toys. With the project, for each piece sold, another is donated to NGOs and institutions that support children undergoing cancer treatment. “Now we are also going to help a project that distributes hygienic products to homeless people,” says Dani.

Zero waste

Panoh was born in 2016, under the name Antique e Chic, and since the beginning, it has been committed to conscious and sustainable fashion. In addition to the use of organic materials, Panoh develops its pieces with the manual work of seamstresses, embroiderers, and lacemakers.

The choice for ecological raw material was thought to create a fairer, less aggressive, and also inspiring production process. “Zero waste is a priority for us and we are always looking for alternatives in this process”, concludes Dani.
