Horto, a women’s fashion brand, joins Texbrasil
Horto is the newest member of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) — the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and ApexBrasil (Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency).
The women’s fashion brand from Rio de Janeiro explores the terroir concept. This values time, place and local raw materials, always in tune with the present and thinking about the sustainable future. Its design is distinctive and inspired by women’s fashion between the 30s and 50s, with an emphasis on embroidery.
Horto currently produces two collections a year, around 1,500 clothing items each, with a manual and handmade embroidery process, always using biodegradable and natural materials. After Texbrasil joined it, the brand aims to better understand the international market in order to stand out, professionalize, and train the team. “We are at a time of great investment, already with good visibility in the market and expanding. We are excited about the investment and entering the national and international wholesale market”, Maria Mendes, founder of the brand, commented.
Its clothing items can be found in the physical store in Rio de Janeiro, on the website and also in some multi-brand stores in Brazil. Despite being a new brand, founded in March 2020, it has already exhibited in pop-up stores in Uruguay and Switzerland.
According to Mendes, Horto emerged from a reflection after his second term of management, when he came to believe it was necessary to leave an example and legacy for his children. The company was then born, with conscious and responsible production that uses only natural products, from qualified, transparent and sustainable origins.
