Karsten launches Liso Max technology to reduce wrinkles in 100% cotton fabrics
Karsten, one of Brazil’s most traditional brands in the bed, table, and bath segment, has launched its proprietary Liso Max technology, developed to reduce wrinkles and creases in 100% cotton fabrics. Applied as a special finish, the process results in a smoother fabric that is less prone to wrinkling after washing and during use.
This new feature is debuting in the Duo line, made from 200-thread-count percale—a fabric renowned for its durability, softness, and structure. The products are already available at Karsten’s physical stores and on the brand’s e-commerce site.
The development of Liso Max took approximately two years and was driven by a recurring consumer need identified by the company: finding bedding sets that wrinkle less without sacrificing the natural qualities of cotton. To arrive at this solution, Karsten’s innovation team tested various combinations of finishing formulas and fabric bases.
One of the main challenges was developing a process capable of reducing wrinkling without compromising attributes valued in cotton, such as breathability, soft hand-feel, thermal comfort, and a feeling of freshness. According to the company, the fabric may also acquire a fuller hand-feel after the technology is applied.
Technology developed for the consumer’s routine
The effectiveness of Liso Max was evaluated based on standards used to analyze crease recovery and fabric appearance after washing. In the tests conducted, fabrics featuring this technology achieved the highest possible rating on the standard’s scale. Under proper washing and drying conditions, the effect is maintained throughout the garment’s lifespan.
The concept combines the convenience of a wrinkle-resistant fabric with the qualities of cotton—a natural fiber renowned for its comfort, feel, and breathability. The key differentiator is the ability to achieve this effect in a 100% cotton fabric using a finish developed specifically for this purpose.
This solution also addresses consumer demand for products that simplify household care. According to Joana Campestrini Fuchs, Marketing Manager at Karsten, the technology was developed based on observations of consumer needs and behavior.
“Our developments always stem from consumer needs and behavior. That is why, when we create a new technology, it must go beyond mere innovation and deliver real value to our target consumer. The Liso Max technology was born precisely from this perspective. The ‘less wrinkling’ attribute is not just a product feature; it is a solution to a real need for women, offering them greater convenience and saving time in an increasingly hectic routine,” she states.
Innovation applied to the bedding segment
With a 143-year history, Karsten has been expanding its presence in home solutions and directing its expertise and innovation investments toward the bedding category as well. In this context, Liso Max joins the company’s portfolio as a technology designed to add functionality and convenience to the consumer experience.
“This new proprietary technology reinforces our commitment to creating solutions that go beyond aesthetics and make life easier. By simplifying home care, we want to give people back something increasingly valuable: time. Time not just to take care of the home, but to truly live in it, enjoy it, and savor the moments that really matter,” highlights Joana.
Products in the Duo line featuring Liso Max technology are sold individually and include pillowcase sets, fitted sheets, and duvet covers, available in various sizes. The pillowcase sets and duvet covers are reversible and feature zipper closures, reinforcing the line’s focus on convenience and functionality.
The products are already available at Karsten physical stores and on the brand’s e-commerce site.
