Fashion Rio starts today with Texbrasil brands and international press
The F/W 2014 season of Fashion Rio starts today at Pier Maua. Here, you can find the lineup, which includes member brands from Texbrasil (Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil) and participation by a group of international journalists invited by the Program to promote the image of Brazilian fashion abroad. The Bossa Nova Showroom, the business arm of Fashion Week, is also welcoming a group of 23 buyers, which includes representatives from companies in Portugal, the Dominican Republic, France, Belgium, Ireland, the United States and Chile.
The international press group includes representatives from France, Italy, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Argentina, Japan, England and Australia. Among highlights are special coverage by the Now Fashion website’s crew, which is broadcasting the fashion shows live via streaming, and attendance by the Director of French TV show La Mode, La Mode, Emmanuel Le Ber, who is working on a special documentary about Rio de Janeiro fashion. The group also includes journalists from Vogue magazine and the Il Sole 24 Ore newspaper (Italy); from the WGSN trend bureau and The Guardian newspaper (England); from Rolling Stone magazine (United Arab Emirates); La Nación newspaper (Argentina); and Reforma and El Universal newspapers and L’Officiel magazine (Mexico).
The Program brands which will hold fashion shows at the event are showing a preview of what we can expect at Fashion Rio. The F/W 2014 collection from designer Alessa will focus on neutral colors and baggy looks using neoprene. Inspiration came from the architecture of Paulo Mendes da Rocha. While Victor Dzenk, of Minas Gerais, will feature colors and art deco on the runways of Fashion Rio and Andrea Marques will continue with her minimalist style.
