Apex-Brasil and Abit sign a new agreement for Texbrasil
This Wednesday (10), in São Paulo, the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) and the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (Abit) signed the eighth agreement to maintain Texbrasil (Brazilian Fashion Industry Export Program), for a term of 18 months, for 2013/2104.
The Program’s goal is to promote internationalization of Brazilian companies in the sector. The agreement establishes investments of BRL 34 million to promote positioning and internationalization of the Brazilian fashion industry, making companies international references in innovation, design and sustainability.
Signature of the agreement took place during the Première Vision São Paulo trade show. The event will be attended by the President of Apex-Brasil, Mauricio Borges; the President of Abit, Aguinaldo Diniz Filho; the manager of the Fashion Sector Project, Rafael Prado, the CEO of Texbrasil, Rafael Cervone; and the Superintendent of Abit, Fernando Pimentel.
The Texbrasil Program promotes exports and internationalization of companies in the sector. There are currently 321 companies taking part in the Program, accounting for 37.5% of Brazilian textile and apparel industry exports, totaling approximately USD 480 million. Under the new agreement, a target has been set for this figure to rise by 3.5%.
“As is the case in many countries, where governments foster companies through export agencies, our Texbrasil Program, carried out in partnership with Apex-Brasil for over 12 years, has trained and strengthened exporting companies in our industry in a serious and long-lasting manner. Each agreement renewed with Apex is actually a commitment that we accept the challenge of doing better and better, with more results,” says the President of Abit, Aguinaldo Diniz Filho.
In the agreement, the Commercial and Competitive Intelligence Unit of Apex-Brasil, in partnership with Abit, chose 9 target countries from among the Program’s target markets in the apparel segment, the United States, China, the United Kingdom, France, Australia and the United Arab Emirates were chosen. In the textile segment, countries chosen were Argentina, Colombia and Peru.
The new agreement plans for intensification of activities to promote Brazilian fashion abroad, including initiatives geared towards the design, sustainability, innovation, communication, competitive intelligence and trade promotion areas.
The first activities, which should take place this Wednesday, is the launch of the new Texbrasil Program logo and of a new communication that will add value to the features of Brazilian fashion, such as its inspiring nature, dynamism, sustainability, inventiveness and provocative aspect.
Partnership
The Texbrasil Program was created in 2000 with the goal of organizing Brazilian companies to supply textile and apparel products in the international market. In 12 years of partnership between Apex-Brasil and ABIT, seven agreements have already been signed, with investments of BRL 125 million, creating volume of USD 2.9 billion in business.
During this time, the Project promoted visits to Brazil of more than 1000 international buyers and 1000 foreign journalists, as well as participation of Brazilian companies in over 200 trade shows outside of Brazil.
