Joao Pimenta showcases collection made with Vicunha’s indigo at SPFW
On the afternoon of Wednesday (20), Joao Pimenta showcased his collection for S/S 2014 on the catwalk of Sao Paulo Fashion Week. Straight pants, jackets and vests made up the outfits with colored shirts and striking details. The presentation surprised the audience by showing jeanswear completely integrated with tailoring, a result of Joao Pimenta’s trademark over versatile bases in Vicunha Textil’s indigo and twills, which was used in several presented pieces. The company is participant of Texbrasil (Brazilian Fashion Industry Export Program) developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).
The fashion show opened with prints that made references to indigenous paintings and lots of blue and white. On the 100% cotton twill Madrid by Vicunha, the fishbone graphics for trousers made a harmonious contrast with the shirt, with details in feathers made from Petra worsted and lightweight denim (3.8 oz) of Vicunha’s Shirting Collection line. In the same patterning, tie is the final touch of the outfit, based on Venice.
Speaking of the Venice denim – satin of cotton and elastane composition – the item had special emphasis on the catwalk in a complete costume with printed pants and blazer, accompanied by shirt of the same pattern (Petra twill), combined with tie in Madrid. Also from the Shirting Collection, the 100% cotton Steffi twill was the base chosen for the hosiery of Joao.
Suits and jackets in denim were the highlights of the fashion show. Indigo Cindy, slightly greenish, which combines cotton and elastane, was the basis for a complete outfit in resin-looking raw jeans, with vest and straight pants, always combined with shirts and ties in twill stamped by the stylist. As to indigo, Tasmania was combined with classic masculine chalk stripe in the blazer for a combination between traditional and modern. In styling, this counterpoint became even more evident on the vibrant red color of the shirt.
As to total black outfits that followed, Petra twill appears in black with embroidered details at the shoulders and cuffs. “Vicunha’s fabrics give me total creative freedom in my compositions. Its versatility in laundry and shapes allow me to think of the most extravagant and more casual and comfortable pieces, always elegant and modern”, says the stylist.
