Abit invites organizations from Europe and Mexico for Confederations Cup

04/05/2013

Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association), through Texbrasil (Brazilian Fashion Industry Export Program), will bring to Brazil, during the Confederations Cup matches, representatives of institutions that represent the textile and apparel sectors in Europe and Mexico. The visit will be during the project created by Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), which seeks to conduct business and to strengthen relationships, leveraging the image of the Brazilian soccer and the cup in the country to attract new customers.

Euratex (European Textile and Apparel Confederation) will send to Brazil Alberto Paccanelli, its president, and Francesco Marchi, its executive director. The confederation has signed a memorandum with the Association in order to expand and deepen the cooperation of the private sector through the exchange of information on production and trade. Given the negotiations of Mercosur with the European Union, seeking new free trade areas between the blocks, Abit also plans to use advantage of the presence of the representatives to align its positioning, debating the issues of the relevant agreement.

The president, Moses Kalach, and director Alfonso Juan Ayub, of Canaintex (National Chamber of Textile Industry), from Mexico, may also come to the country. The goal is to discuss common pleas between Brazil and Mexico for the textile and apparel sector. Among the items of the agenda is the growing advancement of China in Latin markets. The organizations may work in a coordinated and aligned way against unfair and irregular trade, decentralizing the provision of the textile market in Asia, expanding it to other continents. Furthermore, although these countries are large economies, they have a weak business relationship, with a large space to be explored. So, on occasion, possible partnerships will also be studied.
