Aimed at beachwear and lingerie, Mode City welcomes Texbrasil brands
The 32nd edition of Mode City, a business showroom geared towards the beachwear and lingerie market, is taking place in Paris, from July 4 to 6. Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) is supporting 9 Brazilian brands at the event: Blue Man, Bia Brazil, 2Rios, Kiminis, Acquaclub, Intensify.me, Britannia, Despi and Desiree Nercessian.
Priscila Gomide, of Intensify.me, has big plans for this edition. This is our third time at Mode City and this year I plan to publicize the Wedding collection during the event. The CEO of Eurovet (the show organizer), Marie-Laure Bellon, really liked my pieces and has already given me recommendations of possible partnerships, so we’re very excited,” says Gomide, who has already scheduled meetings during the show with some of the top department stores in Europe and Japan.
Alberto Rocha Miranda, of Despi, believes in the event’s strength for the company to grow relations with its European representatives and draw new buyers. “We always choose to launch collections during Mode City and our more elaborate, typically Brazilian bikinis are what set us apart. We not only focus on the French public, but on all of the Europeans that are visiting,” he says.
This edition, which includes F/W 2016 launches by member brands, also features a forum of trends and special fashion shows. In 2014, the show had 450 exhibitors, drawing 15,258 buyers and over 400 journalists. Brazilian brands did USD 1.4 million in business, with an expectation to bring in around USD 2.1 million over the next 12 months.
