Brandili launches the Sustainable World project

06/28/2022

In the month in which World Environment Day is celebrated, Brandili, a Texbrasil’s company (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and) and ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), launches the Sustainable World project. The textile company, which focuses on children’s fashion and has been in the market for over 55 years, aims to bring through this initiative a 360º sustainability concept to the organization’s internal routine and also in external actions. ‘‘We want to connect channels, develop new opportunities, design integrated strategies between sectors, employees and partners and thus grow even more with new projects and initiatives for a more sustainable world. Among the actions developed, which enter the pillars of the project and are already being implemented, we have the reverse packaging logistics, and the project The art of teaching how to sew’’, as commented by Leonir Felipe Soliman Filho, Sustainability Manager of Brandili.

In reverse packaging logistics, plastic does not become garbage and returns to the production chain. At Brandili, 100% of post-consumption plastic packaging goes through environmental compensation. In 2021, 24.7 tons of plastic were compensated, benefiting 23 recycling operators. By 2022, there will be 27.5 tons of the same material. When the focus is on working on sustainability directed to human capital, the company has some initiatives including the project The art of teaching to sew, which is already in its third edition. The goal is to empower and encourage young women in the sewing and tailoring business in a paid way.

‘‘We have already trained 35 women and, among them, 26 were hired by Brandili and work in our unit in Otacílio Costa (SC), which is where the course takes place. In this 2022 edition, the class is producing baby clothes, the well-known bodysuits. About 400 units have already been made and will be destined to our project Mother Love, which provides support and backing to pregnant employees and also to charity institutions that Brandili supports’’, as highlighted by Mileni Jardim dos Santos, Supervisor of the Otacílio Costa unit.

Sustainability 360º – The Sustainable World project began to be designed in 2021 and has the direct support of the company’s sustainability sector, as well as areas such as communication, marketing and human and organizational development. The initiative will encompass four arms of the company: social, environmental, economic and governance. ‘‘There were months of research, meetings, studies and debates. Our sustainability sector already does a strong work with several fronts and actions, and this project comes to unify efforts within Brandili”, as pointed out by Brandili’s Sustainability Manager.

The project will have three pillars that will align the actions to be developed: the nature, the collective and the multiplier. “When we talk about the nature pillar, we will have matters that are high related to the environment, such as initiatives and projects. In the collective, we unite matters such as job security and that concern the human capital of our company. And the multiplier, as its name says, comes to add up. In this pillar, we will develop internal and external awareness work, seek engagement and monitor partner and subcontracted companies”, Filho concludes.
