Colombiatex de las Américas, one of the most important international textile trade shows, is being held in Medellin from January 23 to 25 and will honor the country of Brazil. The country is coming to the event with one of the largest delegations ever, with 40 components, machinery and fabric companies. The companies are part of internationalization projects from Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association), Abimaq (Brazilian Association of the Machinery and Equipment Industry) and Assintecal (Brazilian Association of Leather, Footwear and Artifact Component Companies), all carried out in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).

Brazilian products being shown include a wide variety of textile and inputs for the apparel sector, such as machinery and equipment, featuring quality, technology and competitiveness for the textile industry. New this year is attendance for the first time by three companies making inputs for the leather, footwear and leather goods sector.

Special program

There is a quite extensive agenda of Brazil activities at the event. In addition to exhibitor stands, the country will have a large institutional space at the entrance to the event. A special program of activities will be held there, including fashion shows, being held on the first day for press and guests only and on the other days, from 11 AM to 3 PM, and a cocktail that same day at 6 PM.

With creations by designers Heloisa Faria and Rober Dognani, the Brazil runway will host 25 looks made using an excellent sample of the country’s supplies. The space will also have exhibits of apparel fashions, design, fabrics and leather, all with a creative touch.

In order to integrate the two countries at Colombiatex 2018, Brazil associations will hold a debate on January 24 on technologies and innovations that are currently highly relevant to the sector.
