coterie 2023

Coterie took place last September, in New York, with a record number of Brazilian brands, who were able to expand their business in the international market and establish new contacts. There were forty-two (42) companies present with the support of two projects of Abit (Brazilian Association of Textile and Apparel Industry): Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program – carried out in partnership with ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) – and Vista Brasil – carried out in partnership with Sebrae (Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service).

The 32 brands supported by Texbrasil managed to generate a total of USD 1.4 million in business during the fair, with an expected return of USD 3.9 million over the following 12 months. The 10 companies supported by Vista Brasil have the prospect of making USD 412 thousand in sales in the same period.

Paola Bernardi’s brand was one of those present at the fair with the support of Abit and ApexBrasil. The designer commemorated the contacts she has managed to make and reiterated the importance of companies having a constant presence at the event. “The September 2023 edition was Paola Bernardi’s seventh one and the results increase each season, with a greater number of sales and buyers visiting the brand. In this last edition alone, there were more than 30 new contacts”, she highlighted.

The businesswoman concluded by explaining that in addition to business results, these events also bring image gains: “participating in a prestigious fair like Coterie in New York is very important for the brand’s positioning in the international market”.

Anna Luiza Vasconcellos, designer behind the EMI Beachwear brand, valued Abit and Vista Brasil’s efforts in bringing micro and small brands, like hers, to the fair: “This is the second time that we participate in Coterie with the support of Abit and Sebrae, and we are truly grateful for this partnership, for being able to present Brazilian brands to the foreign market, to buyers, to the media.

Anna also adds that her expectation is that the contacts acquired in this edition will be profitable, just as had happened in the past. “We were happy, because in our first participation our financial return was very positive, and we are counting on it being like this after participating for the second time”.

For Lilian Kaddissi, Executive Superintendent of Projects at Abit, this edition of Coterie showed that the show is consolidating itself as an important business platform for national companies. “Brazilian fashion has once again proven its strength in the international market. More than a thousand contacts were established by Texbrasil and Vista Brasil companies alone, which allows entrepreneurs to expand their range of business possibilities not only during the events, but in subsequent years”, she assures.
