Brazilian brands show at the traditional Who’s Next show in Paris
Who’s Next – the traditional showroom geared towards womenswear, menswear and high added value accessories that takes place twice annually in France – starts today (Sept. 2) in Paris. At this edition, the Handred, Maria Pavan and Vale da Seda brands will be showing their S/S collections with the support of Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) is supporting two brands at the event:
Maria Pavan is bringing its Resort 2017 collection of modern knitwear tops, skirts and dresses to the show with an eye on international expansion as a way to grow and strengthen the label. “Our goal is to publicize the brand and get in touch with buyers from all over the world, while also showing our collection to our current customers,” says Mariana Pavan, the president of the company, which currently exports to 25 customers in 12 countries.
The Vale da Seda project, which is named after the biggest silk-producing region in the Western world and which involves 29 cities in northwestern Parana, is showing a capsule collection made of mostly of tops produced by five companies in the state: three from Maringa (Must, Scalon and Via Tolentino) and two from Curitiba (Abbici and NovoLouvre). Developed in the Maringa Technology Incubator, the project’s goal is to create a collaborative production arrangement geared towards exporting, joining the concepts of origin and sustainability.
“Participation in the Paris show is mostly aimed at opening up new roads for fashion from Parana to reach the international market, identifying sales channels that allow items produced in Vale da Seda to be offered to the entire world,” says Joao Berdu, the collective’s brand director. In 2015, alone, Brazilian silk yarn exports totaled US$ 20 million.
