Brazilian brands show sustainability in Italy
The 6th edition of the Brazil Eco Fashion Week (BEFW), which takes place between September 20 and 26, in Milan, Italy, will host seven major brands that will arrive in the country with the support of Texbrasil, the Internationalization Program for the Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry, maintained by Abit, the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association, in partnership with, ApexBrasil, the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency.
The brands Catarina Mina, KFBranding, Libertees, Ateliê Mão de Mãe, Meninos Rei and Vestô show trends in modeling and textures guided by sustainability, and also participate in a showroom for buyers, influencers and specialized press. The brand Simple Organic signs the scenography of the event and also participates in the showroom.
Rafael Morais, BEFW’s Executive Director and creator, comments that the event is a turning point. The exhibition goes beyond a brand internationalization action, because it tries to change the tone of the conversation in this luxurious stage in Milan. “The idea is to present materials, indicate Brazilian industry solutions and create dialogues and connections with the international market,” he says.
The sustainable fashion topic has been strengthened by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN), which have goals to overcome environmental and social challenges in Brazil and the world by 2030. Abit, through the Texbrasil program, is engaged in supporting actions from cleaner production, through renewable energy, social responsibility, upcycling, and reduction and reuse of water. “We have even brought together companies in a growing group, the Sustainability League, which encourages the exchange of experiences and information among participants, with the aim of sharing best practices. This includes producers of yarns, fabrics, and even clothing manufacturers. We work on the whole chain”, explains Lilian Kaddissi, Executive Superintendent of Strategic Projects at Abit.
