Brazilian company launches insect-repelling product
At a time when the world is on alert about the Zika Virus, textile industry companies are also making moves to implement new technologies in fabrics and guarantee even more safety for their customers. Lalitex is one of them. The company, known for its decorative fabrics, has just announced the development of an exclusive fabric that repels and kills bugs. The new proofelex line has unprecedented nanotechnology that repels insects.
This fabric took four months to develop and relied on studies by specialists in Brazil and the Netherlands. It has also undergone proven quality testing with bugs such as Aedes Aegypti, a mosquito that carries zika and dengue, Anopheles, which carries malaria, and other animals that carry diseases. Toxicological testing has also shown that proofelex is safe for humans and can be in contact with skin.
“We want to bring our customers the peace of mind and safety of a fabric that does more than stop insects from biting them, it will repel them,” says Anselmo Lancman, director of Lalitex. “We went in search of state-of-the-art technology and found the best product to make curtains, bedspreads, baby blankets and sheets,” he adds. This technology is already used for the uniforms worn by the United States armed forces and will be implemented for the first time in Brazil.
In addition to the Brazilian market, Lalitex has already started to export the exclusive proofelex line to European countries such as Spain and Portugal, in addition to countries in Latin America, including Argentina, Colombia and Mexico.
