Brazilian delegation with 21 companies starts the first digital edition of Colombiatex de Las Américas
On January 18, the first fully digital edition of Colombiatex de Las Américas, the largest event of the textile sector in Latin America, begins. The tradeshow, which takes place on its own platform, remains online until February 5. Brazil participates in the event with 21 companies, supported by Texbrasil (The Internationalization Program of the Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry) – the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).
The number 33 edition of the event takes place in a 100% digital way through a platform where brands have the possibility to exhibit their launches and innovations and negotiate with people interested in their products. According to the event’s organization, more than 2 thousand qualified buyers, from Colombia and all over the world, are expected to participate.
The confirmed Brazilian brands are Canatiba, Cataguases, Cedro, Coltex, Covolan, Dalila Têxtil, Ecotag, Hyosung, La Estampa, Latina Têxtil (Diklatex), Linhas Triche, Lunelli, Paramount, Rosset, Santaconstância, Santanense, Santista, Spa Têxtil, Tecelagem Macias, Textil J. Serrano and Vicunha.
“We faced many challenges in 2020, and we had to make a transition to digital. But we adapted quickly and managed to provide good business for the companies that are part of the program,” explains Texbrasil executive manager Lilian Kaddissi, and adds: “with Colombiatex it won’t be any different, and we hope the platform will allow brands to expand their connections, making lasting business”.
To support the brands and advertise the Brazilian companies in the event, Texbrasil will perform several digital actions. In line with the theme of the edition, which will highlight innovation and sustainability in 2021, the Program has developed an exclusive e-book with content presented by the companies.
The material highlights environmental protection actions and innovative solutions, such as recycled PET bottle yarns and water-saving natural dyeing techniques. The material will be available for those who access the platform and will also be disseminated on Inexmoda social media.
Successful partnership
The year 2021 marks the 20th participation of Texbrasil in the event, confirming the commercial importance between Brazil and Colombia and the success of this partnership. In 2020, Texbrasil was even awarded by Inexmoda. The organizer of the event offered Abit a plate thanking the entity for its support to the Colombian textile sector. At the time, the 44 companies that participated in the physical edition made USD 8.96 million in business and prospected another USD 62.84 in sales.
“We believe in the potential of Colombiatex, and we know how important this relationship is to strengthen the two textile industries,” concludes Lilian.
