Brazilian Fashion Takes the Spotlight During Italy’s Fashion Week
Brazilian brands committed to sustainable practices present a fashion show and showroom in Milan
Brazilian fashion with a focus on sustainability will take center stage at one of the global fashion industry’s most prominent platforms. On September 22, 23 and 24, the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (Abit), in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), through Texbrasil – the Internationalization Program for the Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry – and with the support of the Brazilian Association for Sustainable Fashion (Abrimos), will host a special initiative in Italy during the traditional Milan Fashion Week.
The “Brazilian Sustainable Fashion in Milan” program begins on September 22 with a fashion show showcasing the collections of ten Brazilian brands recognized for incorporating sustainable practices into their production processes. On September 23 and 24, an exclusive showroom will follow, creating opportunities for business meetings between Brazilian companies and buyers, distributors, specialized media, and other international market professionals.
The participating brands are: Alina Amaral, Ana de Jour, Camila Machado Ateliê, Celeste, Ludimila Heringer, Lyberthras, Natural Cotton Color, Proposta Verde, Val Valadares, and Villa Dharma.
As part of the preparations for the international initiative, Abit hosted an exclusive event for specialized media at its headquarters in São Paulo on September 9. The press had the opportunity to preview the collections heading to Milan, as well as learn more about the initiative, its objectives, and the participating brands’ proposals. The event also provided an opportunity for members of the press to connect with representatives of the Brazilian companies taking part in the mission. “Brazilian Sustainable Fashion in Milan” reinforces the positioning of Brazil’s fashion industry as a reference in innovation, creativity, and sustainability. In addition to increasing the international visibility of the participating companies, the initiative seeks to strengthen the presence of Brazilian fashion in strategic markets by connecting brands with buyers and key opinion leaders in one of the world’s leading fashion hubs.
“This initiative represents much more than a showcase for Brazilian brands. It is an opportunity to demonstrate to the international market that Brazil brings together creativity, innovation, quality, and a growing commitment to sustainable practices throughout the production chain,” says Fernando Pimentel, Executive Director of Abit.
“Milan Fashion Week is a strategic platform for increasing the international visibility of Brazilian brands and strengthening connections with buyers, partners, and key opinion leaders. This initiative highlights the ability of Brazilian fashion to combine creativity, innovation, and sustainability — qualities that are increasingly valued by the global market,” says Maria Paula Velloso, Business Director at ApexBrasil.
“Brazil has the fashion the world wants and the planet needs, but the world needs to know it. This requires planning, investment, and the joint efforts of organizations such as Abit and Abrimos and institutions such as ApexBrasil, the Brazilian government’s leading agency for export promotion. Together, we can promote luxury fashion and high-value-added products,” says Francisca Vieira, President of Abrimos.
