Brazilians surpass sales target at Emitex, Argentina

05/29/2023

Emitex is an event that takes place annually. This year, between the 25th and 27th of April, the international trade fair brought together, on Argentine soil, over 100 manufacturers of threads, flat weaves and knitwear, aside from materials, tools and accessories, software machines, among others. The companies Audaces, Santaconstancia and Cardenas represented the country with the support of Texbrasil (The Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – the result of a partnership between Abit (The Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and ApexBrasil (The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).

“Emitex is the ideal setting for generating new contacts and obtaining information for upcoming productions,” says Lilian Kaddissi, executive superintendent of Strategic Projects at Abit. For participating Brazilian companies, 980 contacts were generated and revenue of over USD 3 million in the three days of the trade fair, well above the expectations of reaching USD 1.5 million in sales volume.

The International Trade Fair showcased the latest developments in design, products and services for the textile industry. In 2022, Argentina imported around USD 1.4 billion in textiles, a growth of 29.8% over 2021 and 80.4% over 2019 (pre-pandemic), resulting in a resumption of purchases and consumption of textiles in the country (Source: Indec). Added to this information, it is worth recalling that the event has served the public throughout Latin America for approximately 20 years, and is considered an important platform for generating business for the sector.

For Matheus Fagundes, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Audaces, the result was very beneficial, with significant sales. For him, Texbrasil is a strategic and operational facilitator for participation in important international trade fairs. “Having this support, it is essential for us to be at the trade fair focused on what really matters: results!”, he comments

For Johnny Marín, export analyst at Cardenas, the differential of the Emitex international trade fair “is that it caters to a specific segment, and the contacts made have a real possibility of business”. With the good results and its relationship with the Argentine market, Johnny comments that the next step will be to set up the company’s own structure there.

The purpose of the International Trade Fair is in line with current demands and the transformation of production processes. The exhibiting companies are dedicated to sustainable processes and technological innovation. One of the attractions of the edition was the Denim Station, where people could learn about the Jeanswear segment, from the production and design circuit, fabrics, confection, washing, trends and recycling – from the fiber to the finished product. Finally, the edition had an online catalog in which each company can update its information within a year and a half after the end of the exhibition.
