Business generated at Coterie New York for the Brazilian delegation should exceed USD 3 million
Brazilian fashion stood out during the latest edition of Coterie New York, which took place from February 21 to 23. In total, 23 clothing, accessories and footwear brands participated, bringing innovative collections and drawing attention to the cultural richness and talents of the country. The event generated 694 new contacts for the companies and USD 1.16 million in business deals, which are expected to exceed USD 3 million over the next 12 months.
Brazil’s presence was promoted by Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) — the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency). The initiative also included companies participating in projects of Abest (Brazilian Association of Fashion Designers), IBGM (Brazilian Institute of Gems and Precious Metals) and Abicalçados (Brazilian Association of Footwear Industries).
“Since the return of in-person events, we have been present at Coterie with a very diverse delegation, which represents Brazilian clothing very well”, explains Lilian Kaddissi, executive superintendent of strategic projects at Abit. In this edition, the brands Maria Pavan, Marie Mercié, Paola Bernardi and Viviane Furrier presented the latest trends in knitting and embroidery. Cristina Sabatini– Apparel, Letícia Manzan and Louisa brought their new collections, which included colorful and glamorous dresses to be worn both at parties and on a daily basis.
Exclusive prints, appliqués and new patterns brought modernity to the pieces that Andreza Chagas, Lalibela, Oitici, Tarliza Schall and Tássia Elly debuted at Coterie. The Brazilians were also successful with jewelry, costume jewelry, head accessories, handbags and differentiated shoes represented by Blanca Leone, Cristina Sabatini-Accessories, Eneida França, Gissa Bicalho, Melissa, Lavish, Matilda Headpieces, Nádia Gimenes, Rosana Bernardes, Schutz, and Serpui.
In its first participation at Coterie, the Viviane Furrier brand did good business during the fair, as explained by the creator of the eponymous brand. “The collection was highly praised by buyers and visitors. We are already carrying out confirmations and follow-ups, hoping to close more orders by the end of the sales season,” she celebrates.
Paola Bernardi took her collection to the event for the 4th time and highlights the importance for the evolution of her business in the international market. “We gained more visibility and received new buyers during the fair”, adds Paola, designer and creator of the brand.
“Coterie has been very important in the internationalization of my brand, increasing the volume of sales with each edition. It is an incredible opportunity to present Brazilian design and the support received is essential for the growth abroad,” explains Gissa Bicalho, founder and creative director of the brand that bears her name.
Another brand that brought good rewards from the event was Lavish, which has participated in Coterie since 2011. “This edition was very interesting. We had a good sales result, similar to the last event we participated in last year. We felt that customers were excited to do new business. The support of Texbrasil and Abit is important to help us participate in fairs and represent Brazilian fashion”, concludes founder and designer Tricia Milaneze.
