Canatiba starts pilot of sustainable transport project
The textile brand Canatiba announced the beginning of a pilot project in partnership with the transport company Maroso, to ensure more sustainable transport, with a reduction in CO². The brand is one of the members of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) — the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).
Initially, the project includes fabric deliveries in the Greater São Paulo, using a truck powered by electricity, with a capacity to transport 5 tons, without emitting CO², while a diesel-powered truck emits up to 50 tons of CO² per year.
Transportes Maroso and Canatiba have been partners for eight years now. Today, the carrier takes the brand’s fabrics to eight states in Brazil. The electrification of the fleet is on the horizon for both companies, which are now experimenting with the pilot project to remain committed to a 100% sustainable production chain.
