The project “Sarja Sedapet – Quality and Sustainability”, developed by Senai – Technology Center of Maringa – and by the spinning craftCasulo Feliz, in September received the Premio Prata (Silver Award) at the category Textile – Fabric of Idea Brasil Prize, held during theBrazilian Design Biennial in Belo Horizonte. The fabric is composed of 50% silk, 25% plastic bottles and 25% cotton.  Headquartered in Parana, the company already exports to Europe and the U.S., is participant of Texbrasil (Brazilian Fashion Industry Export Program), developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and has reputed clients in the market such as Emporio Beraldin, Vivienne Westwood, Animale and Cantao.

“The jeans silk is an environmentally sustainable product, since the fibers of PET and cotton tend to be dispensed by the industry, as well as the pod that we traditionally use in our production. It is a technologically revolutionary process that dispenses laundry and softening”, explains Glicinia Seterenaski, designer and director of the company.

Another factor also excels in the manufacturing of the product: “because we do not use laundry and softening, we contribute even more to the environment by not dispensing chemicals in nature, thus saving at least 80 liters of water per piece washed”, he said. The silk jeans is lightweight, soft, comfortable and has a unique feature: the look with accented silver tones. Major brands in Brazil and abroad have shown interest in buying the fabric to use in their collections.
