Threads from Círculo S/A invade Sao Paulo Fashion Week
The thread and yarn brand Círculo S/A, which is part of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) — the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Exports and Investments Promotion Agency) — exhibits two partnerships during São Paulo Fashion Week, the biggest fashion week in Latin America.
The first partnership is with stylist Renata Buzzo, who crossed the SPFW fashion show last Sunday (27). The collection is inspired by a poem by Buzzo herself, “Jupiter e Saturn”, about the astronomical conjunction of these two planets, which took place in 2020.
Cardigans, skirts, and jackets make up the collection in pieces entirely machine-knitted and manual applications of fabrics in upholstery. “We use the Urbano thread by Círculo S/A, which has a modern, stone-washed finish, to develop the pieces and handcrafted details. The partnership with this brand also reflects on my purpose in fashion, as it is all guided by the manual process”, says Renata.
Ponto Firme
The other partnership of Círculo to be part of the Fashion Week is the Ponto Firme project, led by stylist Gustavo Silvestre, who is participating in the event for the fourth time. Focused on sustainability, the theme of the collection is recycle and upcycling, proposing a reflection on the life cycle of clothing and conscious consumption.
Created in 2015, the Project offers technical training in crochet for interns at the Desembargador Adriano Marrey Prison, in Guarulhos (SP). Círculo S/A is responsible for providing the materials used by the students in their professional development.
The collection exhibited at SPFW was developed by Gustavo, alongside the artisans Anderson Figueiredo, Tiago Araújo, and Anderson Joaquim, re-education students from the Desembargador Adriano Marrey Prison, in Guarulhos (SP).
Ponto Firme exhibited 30 looks and six masks last Sunday (27). “It is a collective work that encourages taking a look at the reuse in fashion and generates a reflection on the life cycle of clothes combined with social and environmental practices. We are proposing to extend it as much as possible with this collection”, comments Anderson Figueiredo.
