Confederations Cup: project generates USD 1.8 billion in business
Participation by Brazilian companies and industry organizations in the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) Cup Project surpassed initial expectations for business. Business generated during the FIFA 2013 Confederations Cup along with business expected for the next 12 months totals US$ 1.8 billion, almost twice what was initially forecast.
Four-hundred and ninety-two Brazilian companies, 60 industry organizations and 10 partners took part in the World Cup Project totaling around 1,400 executives and opinion makers. Three Texbrasil (Brazilian Fashion Industry Export Program) member companies – Vicunha, Delfa and Cipatex – were also part of this group. Actions were developed over seven games, held in three host cities (Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro and Fortaleza). At the same time, 432 business agendas were carried out in various states in Brazil.
“The quality of the project resulted in a business volume that exceeded initial estimates. This performance reinforces the initiative’s unique character and consolidates this kind of relationship platform as a powerful tool for trade promotion,” says Ricardo Santana, Apex-Brasil’s Business Director.
The project also included participation by 17 trading companies, which held business meetings with 15 foreign companies, from Bolivia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Angola, South Korea, Venezuela, Mexico, Chile, Portugal and the USA. In two days, US$ 2.2 million in business was carried out, with a total of US$ 9.2 million expected for the next 12 months.
