Coven, a Texbrasil brand (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) — the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Exports and Investments Promotion Agency) — has just launched its winter collection.

For the novelty, the brand’s creative team bet on monotype, a technique for printing shapes on a smooth surface, in a single try-out. The technique consists of spreading screen printing ink on a glass surface, placing another plate of the same material on top of the previous one to compress the ink, and then, after some time, separating them. The plates are transformed into stamps that generate unique designs.

The brand’s creative director, Liliane Rebehy brought to Coven a creative workshop to explore all the perspectives of monotype. With this, stylist Isabela Moura and artist Douglas Silva immersed themselves in the technique, with the aim of translating artistic creations into a surface design work already characteristic of Coven.

The result can be seen especially in knitting jacquards, running and spot prints, dot embroidery, and hand-made pompoms. One of the highlights of the collection is denim, to which monotype was applied in jeans, bomber jackets, cropped jackets, and kimonos.

In addition to the shapes and textures obtained in the technique, there are checkered patterns in the collection, as well as cotton. Monotype shapes printed and stitched with dotted embroidery were applied to cotton in pieces that include jackets, pants, pleated skirts, and crop tops.

A versatile collection, it also has pieces that allow different look options, such as jackets that pair with vests, forming a single piece, but that can also be worn separately. In addition, the cotton trench can be used in up to four different ways and makes up a family with a timeless model of tailor-made pants.
