Covolan invests in elasticity for S/S 2018
Products in the S/S 2017/2018 line at Covolan – a member company of Texbrasil, the Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) – is already available for apparel manufacturers. The biggest new feature from the denim manufacturer is items with lots of elasticity. There are a total of 20 products geared towards the season, with light bases and more intense dyes.
Denis Ortenzi, Marketing Manager at Covolan, explains the company’s motivation to invest in this kind of product. “Our public demands fabrics with greater stretch for womenswear. That is why we have ultra stretch denim that goes up to 80%.Customers vary from small apparel manufacturers to large department stores, which ask for this item to dress Brazilian women,” he says.
Among the 20 launches, 12 have a black weave to make the dye more intense. Another investment is in “broken twill” ligaments and a jersey structure, in addition to fabrics with a prominent bias. New products vary in weight from 5.5 oz to 10 oz, with widths between 1.52m and 1.66m. While mixes include cotton, polyester and elastane.
