Dalila Têxtil launches antiviral finishing for fabrics

09/23/2020

Dalila Têxtil has developed an antiviral finish for fabrics with the effect of up to 50 washes with effectiveness against coronavirus. The solution, which was already certified by independent laboratories, has now obtained a certificate from Unicamp that attests to its effectiveness against the virus.

Dalila’s antiviral has already been distributed to fitness, hospital, bed, table, and bath segments, among others. The director of Dalila Têxtil, André Klein, points out that this innovation impacts the fashion market for the better since the clothes combine design and health care.

“This technology promotes rupture of the membrane and inhibits the growth and persistence of the virus in the mesh, with a mechanism of action that blocks the virus from binding to host cells, preventing the microorganism from releasing its genetic material inside, reducing the infectious capacity in the cells”, explains the executive.

The fabric has already been tested on face masks, clothing fabrics, and other applications, obtaining evidence of a significant reduction in viral and bacterial infection.

High protection

Many Brazilian brands have bet on antiviral solutions. Rhodia is one of them. The textile brand launched Amni® Virus-Bac OFF in June. It is a functional polyamide that inhibits contamination between textile parts and the user, thus preventing clothing from being a transmission vehicle.

Upvest, on the other hand, used Swiss technology to develop an antiviral fabric for the production of masks. The solution is now available in pharmacies across the country.
