The Dragão Fashion Festival is being held in Fortaleza, Ceara, from May 9 to 12. The fashion, creative economy and music event is welcoming four international journalists at the invitation of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).

The group includes Anna Ross (United Kingdom), from the WGSN trend portal; Gustavo Dimario (Argentina), of Vogue Italy and L’Officiel Argentina; Natalia Jinchuk (Uruguay), with fashion website Mirada Couture; and Carolina Guimaraes, a Portuguese journalist who writes for the Portal de Moda and for Jornal Textil magazine.

According to Claudio Silveira, the organizer, this edition of the DFB wants to provide a 360° view to cover every direction guiding and depicting Brazil today. “Our aim is to look at reality through every layer, covering all of the senses and every direction,” explains Claudio.

That is why DFB 2018 is going beyond the original fashion the event has been known for 19 years, with multidisciplinary offerings from Brazil’s northeast region with wide-ranging programming that joins culture, music, fashion, dance, cuisine, entrepreneurship and education.

Attractions

There are 38 fashion shows in the line-up, being held in three rooms. One of them is the brand new DFBeach Club, with a capacity for up to 600 people and a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean, with a line-up dedicated to beachwear. Passing through the space will be the Flee! and Hand Lace brands, making their debuts, in addition to deluxe beachwear label Bikiny Society – a Program member, which will hold a sunset edition to show its collection on May 12, at 5 PM.

New at this edition is a partnership with Santa Catarina-based textile company Lunelli, a Texbrasil member and a DFB sponsor brand. The group will develop a series of actions: a talk by Walter Rodrigues, a huge name in Brazilian fashion, and participation by the Creative Director at Lez a Lez, Juliana Jabour.
