Fabiana Milazzo launches a collection inspired by Croatian artist

Designer Fabiana Milazzo, a member of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – a partnership between Abit and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) – since the start of her internationalization process, has launched a new collection inspired by the work of Croatian artist Lena Kramic.

According to Fabiana Milazzo, her first contact with the vibrant colors of Lena’s work was in the lobby of a hotel where she was staying during a holiday trip to the European country in July 2017. “I loved Croatia and Lena’s work. And because I adore mixing fashion and art, I immediately went to her studio in the city of Dubrovnik to meet her in person.” The result of this meeting was the evening wear, jumpsuits, skirts, dress shirts and trousers in the “Croatia” collection.

Fabiana also says that she was not only inspired by Lena’s work, but also by cultural references, the plant life and the folklore of the artist’s home country: “the typical flowers of Croatia come embroidered. Various elements of the culture were modernized and given a new significance, such as stained-glass church windows.” She moreover adds that: “we also applied the cross-stitch and line embroidery technique on some items, paying homage to traditional garments.”

For Lena, it was a unique experience to see her work in the “Croatia” collection. She says that she loved the collection and respects Fabiana for creating something completely new and original using her work.
