Fabiana Milazzo shows sustainable collection at Los Angeles Fashion Week
Minas Gerais-based brand Fabiana Milazzo showed its “Life” collection in Los Angeles last Tuesday (October 9). The show took place at Los Angeles Fashion Week in the USA and relied on support from Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – the result of a partnership between Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association). In addition to showing the collection to the American audience, the brand held an exclusive event for guests after the fashion show, also supported by the Program.
Nature was the designer’s theme in creating the collection. The brand also produced items in a responsible manner: organic fabrics, natural dyes and ecoprints. Of the 28 looks shown, 30% are ecofriendly and were created using sustainable production processes. According to designer Fabiana Milazzo, one of the techniques used to make the apparel was reusing scraps from old collections.
“Some items made in this way had already been shown at the last edition of SPFW, but this time we really increased the number of looks and brought this universe to the United States,” she explains. Fabiana also says that she thinks that the new luxury goes beyond exclusivity and innovation: it is socially and environmentally responsible. And she adds in closing that, “luxury needs to be more aware.”
