FARM opens first international store in New York
Twenty-one years after it created its first point of sale (a booth measuring 5 square meters), Rio de Janeiro’s Farm is announcing the opening of its first foreign location. Starting on April 25, the member brand of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – held through a partnership between Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) – will have a store in New York, with a 250 square meter shop in the charming Soho neighborhood.
This achievement is the result of the brand’s internationalization project, which started last year when it opened a showroom in the American city. FARM currently has 72 stores and is found in 1,500 multibrand shops, employing more than 1,500 employees.
For some time now its colorful prints and identity based on the carioca lifestyle have been gaining popularity worldwide and the brand has even been a Texbrasil member for the last 3 years. Through the Program, it has received support to attend the Coterie show in the USA twice, once in 2016 and once the following year, and it has taken part in missions organized by our team for the Copenhagen Fashion Summit sustainability event and for the Argentina and Uruguay Roadshow.
The decision to start an offensive in the USA happened after FARM found success after selling products through Anthropologie of New York. The next step was to open an office in the city and, now, the Soho store.
Farm had to make some adjustments to its collections in order to enter this market, prioritizing the use of natural raw materials and expanding its size offerings: going from three sizes to four. Its famous prints were also carefully cultivated. FARM went with their best selling designs, the ones that recall the Brazilian identity, with tropical birds, fruit and foliage.
Before the launch of the store FARM will open an international online store, on the 12th of March. There are additional plans to open two more stores: one in Miami and another in California.
