From Brazil to Milan: Villa Dharma’s Handcrafted, Timeless Fashion
The World Sustainability Organization returns to centre stage during the days of Milan Fashion Week with a collective runway show featuring 13 carefully selected brands, ready to unveil their new Spring/Summer 2026 collections.
The event will take place on Thursday, 25 September at 5 pm at the Istituto dei Ciechi in Milan, a symbolic venue that will host this important occasion dedicated to sustainable fashion.
The show is held under the banner of the Friend of the Earth certification, an international programme that sets rigorous sustainability standards for the fashion industry. This certification ensures transparency and accountability across the entire supply chain, promoting environmentally responsible practices. Through Friend of the Earth, the WSO is committed to guiding the industry towards a more conscious future, collaborating with brands that share values of sustainability and innovation.
One of the featured brands in the 4th edition of “Beyond the Claim Sustainable Fashion Show” is Villa Dharma.
Villa Dharma is a Brazilian fashion brand founded in the northeast of Brazil, committed to sustainability, environmental regeneration, and the empowerment of women’s networks. The label creates timeless garments in pure linen, hand-painted with natural dyes, reflecting a deep connection with nature, the local territory, and the stories of those who make them.
Villa Dharma’s participation in the show is supported by Texbrasil — the Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program — the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).
More than just clothing, Villa Dharma offers an experience of care—for the body, the land, and the passage of time. The brand focuses on traditional artisanal practices, conscious material use, and the preservation of ancestral crafts such as bobbin lace embroidery and the reuse of discarded fishing nets.
Every piece is handcrafted by women artisans who, with skill and sensitivity, transform natural materials into unique garments, where embroidery, crochet, sewing, and weaving convey knowledge passed down through generations. For Villa Dharma, craftsmanship is not just aesthetic, it is ethical: a commitment to a fair, responsible, and meaningful process that makes each item irreplaceable.
The brand uses natural fibres such as linen, certified cotton, and organic cotton, ensuring comfort, breathability, and respect for the environment, while reducing water and chemical use. Natural dyes, extracted from roots, leaves, and flowers, reflect a profound respect for the Earth and its regenerative cycles, giving each garment unique and sustainable colours.
Even the smallest details, such as cotton labels dyed with water-based inks and mother-of-pearl buttons, are carefully chosen to express elegance and sustainability. The packaging, made from hand-painted kraft paper using natural dyes and recyclable materials, completes the experience of a brand centred on care for the planet and its inhabitants.
Villa Dharma is a celebration of femininity, tradition, and emotional craftsmanship, created to redefine fashion through exclusive, conscious, timeless, and beautiful garments made with love, ancestral knowledge, and regenerative processes that support a fair and transparent production network.
The collection features collaborations with brands Tatuí Casa Marujo, Estúdio Lira, NGO Viva Esperança, Palha Potiguar, Ariell Guerra, Associação das Rendeiras de Alcaçuz.
