GIG Couture launches Simultane collection for Summer ’17

Fashion and art come together in the colors, shapes and contrasts in the new collection from GIG Couture for Summer ’17. Inspired by the energy of works by French artist Sonia Delaunay, designer Gina Guerra taps into the rhythm and movement of her brushstrokes with each collection. Filled with geometry, textures, proportions and volumes, the Simultane collection is a true celebration of sensations. Founded in 2002, the Minas Gerais-based brand is a member of Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).

The prints were created based on moving stripes matched with the infinite possibilities of colors that come to life in the year’s warmest season. Pleats with three-dimensional effects are a highlight and play with possible dimensions to balance out each piece. While zigzag dots in haute relief are combined with two of the biggest features of the brand: lace and ruffles. The romantic tone is light and feminine, while also maintaining the contemporary air that GIG Couture always proposes.

Loose, baggy and flowing silhouettes are unprecedented for the brand and are found in various families of prints in the collection, lending a carefree air to the day-to-day suggested by this collection. Asymmetry, discrete necklines and lengths ranging from mini to midi round out looks, which come both mismatched and sensual. Transparencies are free, just like the sensations of Simultane.

The plurality of colors and shapes also comes to life in rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets through a partnership between the Minas Gerais-based brand and LOOL, a Sao Paulo based brand helmed by Luiza Setubal. The vibrant portfolio for the GIG by LOOL accessories collection runs the gamut from lilac to red, touching on tones of blue, green and brown. “Wanting something new is the big drive behind why the partnership is happening again. In this collection, we created eclectic pieces, with an artsy and fun feel that use overlapping and a mix of shapes to make accessories unusual. The result puts even more bossa in putting together the looks created by Gina for the season,” says Luiza Setubal.
