Innovation and Design Mission gathers Texbrasil brands in Barcelona

05/23/2016

During this week, representatives of the RVB Malhas, Digitale Textil, Coteminas, Dellas Lingerie, Hering, Fakini, Trendt, Maria Pavan and Moovexx brands will be in Barcelona for an Innovation and Design Mission organized through a partnership between Instituto Europeo di Design and Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency). The schedule starts May 23 and ends May 27, covering talks, workshops and visits to companies, technology centers, design firms and museums that are a reference in innovation and design.

The mission starts with a talk on the future of fashion and fabrics, discussing the topics of sustainability, soft wearables and smart textiles. The first day also includes a visit to Unitin, a company with extensive know-how on indigo dyeing, laundering and finishes for circular knit fabrics, for an analysis of the disruptive innovation of its products. During the week, participants will also visit Mango, one of the world’s biggest fast fashion retailers; the Cetemmsa, Leitat and Catalonia technology centers; the international offices of the Brandcelona strategic design firm; and the 22@Barcelona district, where the Design Museum of Barcelona and the city’s Materials Center are located.

Tatiana Thomaz, an innovation manager with Coteminas, talks about the importance of taking part in the mission: “I am expecting a lot of knowledge and to open my mind to design and its processes.” She also emphasizes participation in the Innovation and Design Workshop, held on May 10 and 11 at the IED in Sao Paulo. “The workshop was great because it gave me the foundation for what I will see over the upcoming days of the mission, in addition to being fundamental for my team, since I will be able to connect what I will see with what I would like to implement at the company,” she says.

Named by the European Commission as the innovation capital of the continent in 2014, Barcelona is now a required stop for any executive and researcher wanting to experience innovation, find creative ideas for their own business and create strategic partnerships.
