Innovation Benchmarking Mission brings new perspectives to Brazilian companies
From May 8 to 12, Brazilian companies in the textile and apparel industry took part in the Innovation Benchmarking Mission to Frankfurt (Germany) – an Abit initiative through the Texbrasil Program, in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency). The initiative included participation of representatives from 2Rios Lingerie, Capricornio Textil, Marisol S.A., Tecelagem Panamericana, Tremembe and Vicunha Textil in the 19th edition of the Techtextil Symposium and in Techtextil, one of the world’s most important events in the technical and technological textiles segment, as well as in Texprocess, a leader in technology for textile processes, accessories and services in the industry.
For Carlos Figur, who is with the engineering department at Marisol S.A., the high point of the mission was a meeting with three Industry 4.0 specialists from Senai Cetiqt, who gave a presentation on the biggest innovations that they mapped at the shows. “During the presentation, we had the chance to exchange experiences and debate some topics with mission members, which was quite productive,” he said. According to Figur, the knowledge acquired during the mission will help in the technology updating process and in development of new products.
The president of 2Rios Lingerie, Matheus Fagundes, thinks that networking done during the mission will allow the brand to accelerate some innovation topics that had already been discussed internally, in addition to finding new possibilities for development and coworking, with the goal of delivering solutions to customers in Brazil and the other countries where the company operates. For him, the visit to the Institute of Textile Technology (ITA) at the University of Aachen was extremely important: “we were able to see the importance of the textile industry in other segments as well, such as the auto industry and civil construction, which may grow significantly over the coming years, and the technology and processes show in Frankfurt opened up lots of discussions in relation to machinery and new fibers for every segment,” he says.
Mario Galardo, of Tremembe, a company working with chemical specialties for the textile industry, said that it was important to see firsthand where the textile industry is headed, especially checking out the various markets that are included in the textile market, from civil construction and health to the aeronautics industry. “We were sure that our investment in special finishes is the right direction and that we should accelerate the possibility for developing our products for coating,” he says.
