Japan inspires Patricia Bonaldi’s S/S collection

08/05/2015

Patricia Bonaldi looked to the Orient for inspiration in creating the S/S 2016 collection for her eponymous brand, particularly Japan and its nature landscapes. The designer first and foremost played up the female figure, highlighting its curves.

Flowers, a staple of the brand, are once again in nearly the entire collection, but this time they are typically Japanese, with cherry blossoms, a species that symbolizes the country where the designer lived for 3 years and that is always present in her memories and references.

With more form-fitting shapes, but that still recall the kimonos worn by Japanese women, dresses are mostly able to combine the modest air of Asian women with the sensuality of the Brazilian woman. Part of the collection uses slits and small buttons, classic references of Eastern garments, to replace deep necklines.

Devoré, 3D lace and zibeline were the fabrics chosen for this collection. Used in nude, blue, pink, red and green, they help to construct the three-dimensional shape, texture and aspect that has become the designer’s personal desire for both the Patricia Bonaldi brand and her PatBo brand, both of which are members of Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).
