Light fabrics are the highlight of Canatiba’s Winter 2017 collection

From May 10 to 12, Canatiba Denim Industry gathered over 400 apparel manufacturing customers to see a preview of the Winter 2017 collection. The meetings, held at the company’s showroom in the city of Sao Paulo, showed the main launches in denim and international trends researched by Bia Aidar. The leading jeanswear brand is one of the oldest members of Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).

Fabio Covolan, Canatiba‘s director of marketing, spoke with customers about the new technologies acquired by the company, the products created and the international textile panorama. “We underscored the importance of light fabrics and special shades of blue,” he said. One of the major highlights of F/W 2017 are shirts, with strong streetwear looks and jacket status. That is why Canatiba has created denims developed using Lyocell and Modal in unique constructions, such as dobbies, jacquard and multiconstructions that refine the end product.

The 98% cotton + 2% elastane mix continues to be popular for the season, along with the 97% cotton + 3% elastane mix, providing maximum elasticity in this new technology along with Lycra®. Duo Core continues to be widely used, especially abroad, a reality that the company is bringing to Brazilian customers. Fabrics with this technology are dyed in unique ways: vivid blues, overdyed, a notable facet of the collection that recalls the “dirty,” more vintage aspects, as the basis for more elastic fabrics. Lyocell and Modal fibers are also used in producing bottoms for men and women.

Notable in dyes is the vast range of blue and black shades, with grayish fades, another trend abroad. A more marked ring is also popular for the season along with heavier fabrics, showing the “salt and pepper effect” in the wash – another major trend abroad. “In the middle of so many new launches and options, reinventing is the keyword for the next season,” adds Ivna Barreto, Canatiba‘s marketing manager.
