Lunelli signs the UN Global Compact
Lunelli, a company in the Santa Catarina textile industry with more than 40 years of experience, has further strengthened its commitment to the ESG agenda and the practice of sustainable, innovative and inclusive fashion by signing the United Nations (UN) Global Compact.
The company, which owns brands such as Lez a Lez, Lunender, Alakazoo, Hangar 33, Fico, Graphene, Lunelli Malhas e Tecidos and Vila Flor, is one of the members of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – a partnership between ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association).
Signing the Global Compact further strengthens Lunelli’s vision of “Making meaningful fashion that has a positive impact on the world and for everyone” and demonstrates the brand’s commitment to helping build a more sustainable and inclusive future.
In its quest to continue improving textile management and processes to reduce risks, waste and environmental impacts, the company is aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with sustainability as part of its DNA. As a participant in the Global Compact, Lunelli maintains a firm commitment to caring for and valuing people, recognizing the importance of ethical and responsible practices in all its operations.
What is the UN Global Compact?
It is the world’s leading corporate sustainability initiative, bringing together companies from all over the world to align their strategies and operations in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption, as well as developing actions that contribute to tackling society’s challenges. The UN Global Compact was conceived in 2000 by the UN Secretary General at the time, Kofi Annan.
The Global Compact is not a regulatory instrument, a mandatory code of conduct or a forum for policing management policies and practices. It is a voluntary initiative that provides guidelines for promoting sustainable growth and citizenship through committed and innovative corporate leadership.
