Natural Cotton Color develops collection in partnership with Joao Pimenta
Natural Cotton Color launched an exclusive collection designed by Joao Pimenta during the 35th Expo West, one of the most important trade shows for organic and sustainable products in the United States. The partnership between the Paraiba-based brand and the designer and the brand’s participation in the event were supported by Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).
Pimenta, who is known for his menswear creations, surprised everyone by showing a gender-neutral collection. Francisca Vieira, CEO of Natural Cotton Color, loved it. “The collection serves a growing market niche.” She underscored that the designer’s creation adds even more value to the concept of timeless and sustainable fashion espoused by the brand, whose products are made with organic naturally colored cotton.
Pimenta found learning about the organic cotton that naturally grows colored and is grown without the use of additives or dyes in rural Paraiba to be a great experience. “The idea was to make simple clothing, using this environmentally-friendly fabric, to be used by men and women, with loose-fitting pieces with ties. The silhouette included sarouel trousers, batwing sleeves and utility pockets with screen appliqués also made using naturally colored cotton,” he said.
Expo West was held in California from March 11 to 13, bringing together exhibitors from various segments, such as apparel, home fabrics, cosmetics and foodstuffs, providing visibility for companies committed to production that is eco-friendly and environmentally friendly.
