Nosotros: meet the talented new BtoBe designer that has charmed Parisians
One young designer’s label has caught a lot of attention at the Who’s Next Paris trade show this year in July: Nosotros, the winner of the latest edition of the BtoBe (Brazilians to Be) contest, held in December 2013 by Texbrasil (Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization program, developed by Abit and Apex-Brasil) and by Casa de Criadores (House of Creators). As part of the award, designer Nathan de Souza, who runs the brand, arrived in the city of light to participate in its first international event.”We were surprised with the great repercussion of our stand. We have seen that we can take Brazilian fashion to another level, reaching people from around the world and in different cultures with our products,” says the designer.
Nosotros (which means “we” in Spanish) was created by a group of students while still in school, but it ended up becoming a major project. That is how Nathan de Souza decided to compete in BtoBe.”We saw what the contest was about and its importance in the growth of brands that are becoming established. So we decided to enter. We were happy to have come out winning,” he recalls.
The label’s secret is to make a well conceived product, from initial research to quality control. Its identity is imbued with a Brazilian-ness that uses a timeless aesthetic and the versatility that the contemporary world demands. The experience of participating in the Texbrasil talent incubator has allowed the company to enter the market today in a more thought out and structured manner.”I think that we have grown significantly as professionals; we were able to enter into some partnerships and we are gaining space to show our work, little by little. We are consolidating our relationship with the textile industry and analyzing our production chain. I think that we will have something new by the end of the year,” he says.
